Zenaba's story, Chad

Claudia Leimgruber-Neukom (midwife and cofounder of whi) tells the story of Zenaba a young girl from Sudan. Her encounter with Zenaba, whose story is representative of many girls' and women's suffering, led to the founding of women's hope international in 2003 in Berne. Since then, Zenaba has been actively involved in a fistula project in Chad and is, with great commitment, helping and encouraging many women who have suffered as she did.

Shushan's story, Ethiopia

Shushan has been married at an early age and suffered severe childbirth injuries. Her story has been reported by Ruth Kennedy from our partner organization, Abraham's Oasis in Northern Ethiopia.

Aziza's story, Afghanistan

People often forget that even today, millions of women risk their lives and their health when becoming mothers. This is the case in Afghanistan, for example, where women become mothers at an early age and most of them have many children. Aziza* is one of these women. She had to fight for her life to continue to be a mother for her children.
