Training
women's hope international organizes and supports training projects for midwives, qualified nurses and specialized fistula surgeons in countries with a high prevalence of fistula.
It is proven that the occurrence of fistula is significantly lower when mothers take part in prenatal classes conducted by trained midwives. We offer courses for local obstetricians and gynecologists in specialized fistula surgery. Qualified nurses also receive training that enables them to take better care of the needs of fistula patients.
Specialized doctors and nurses relocating to areas of the country with better living conditions poses a big challenge. It is our goal to motivate our program’s participants to stay in rural areas where medical care is still not adequate and their expertise is most needed.
