Since 2007 Women’s Hope International has been partnering with CURE International Hospital in Kabul to implement projects in order to prevent and treat Obstretic Fistula.

Treating and Preventing Obstetric Fistula

 

Purpose of the Project

CURE International Hospital is a private teaching hospital with 104 beds, located in Kabul. The fistula centre, which was established with the support of WHI, is part of the CURE Hospital. Women who suffer from obstetric fistula come from all over the country to be treated at the centre.
 
Goal
The number of women with obstetric fistula is significantly decreased. Less women are inflicted with birth trauma.

Well trained fistula surgeons

Well trained obstetricians-gynaecologists

Women with a obstetric fistula are successfully treated

Health personnel in the provinces understand the treatment options for women with obstetric fistula

Management of the Project

Dr Yousuf Kahn is the Hospital Director and has the overall responsibility for the project. Dr Sofia Hail is the responsible fistula surgeon and team leader (see picture).
