Since the Taliban seized power in August 2021, the framework conditions and prerequisites for project work in the country have changed drastically. Learn more about how we continue to do our work in Afghanistan

Pakistan deports 1.7 million afghan refugees to Afghanistan

On October 3, 2023, the Pakistani government announced that it would forcibly deport around 1.7 million Afghan refugees back to Afghanistan by November 1 if they did not leave voluntarily. The Pakistani authorities are taking action: they are forcing people back across the border to Afghanistan. Among them: Children, pregnant and breastfeeding women. The province of Laghman, where we are implementing projects, is one of the regions to which many people are returning.
The situation in the border camps is extremely precarious: our partner PUI is providing emergency aid on the ground.

OVERVIEW OF PROJECTS IN AFGHANISTAN

Women empower women, Afghanistan

Afghanistan: Women empower women in Kabul and Scheberghan

After the Taliban came to power in 2021, Women's Hope had to discontinue its project to combat gender-based violence in two cities in Afghanistan. Despite the massive restrictions on their rights by the Taliban, women in Afghanistan are not giving up. Motivated by the courage of the Afghan women, we have decided to resume the project adapted to the circumstances.

Safe Births, Afghanistan

Afghanistan: Access to obstetric care for women in rural areas of Laghman Province

The access to professional obstetrics in a health institution is provided to women in remote villages. The quality level of five health centres is raised, staff is trained and the centres are renovated to meet the cultural standards and needs of women.
